BASIC 10/64 PLUS - Custom Commodore 64 basic (Commodore 65 Basic 10 like)
A downloadable tool
# BASIC 10/64 PLUS
rettangoli, cerchi, ellissi, riempimenti e testo.
e sequenze musicali. **SOUND** lascia proseguire il programma durante l'effetto;
**PLAY**, invece, attende l'esecuzione delle note.
## Un BASIC più comodo da usare
DO/LOOP, WHILE/UNTIL, EXIT, ELSE e BEGIN/BEND affiancano il BASIC V2.
TRAP e RESUME offrono gestione degli errori; GETKEY e SLEEP semplificano attese e
interazione.
## Impara dagli esempi inclusi
Il disco comprende sei demo tematiche, **MEGADEMO**, **DEMOPLUS**, **DEMOLUNA**
Studia i listati, modifica i parametri e osserva come lavorano insieme i comandi.
**separatamente**, premendo RETURN dopo ciascuno:
```basic
LOAD"BASIC10-64",8
RUN
```
demo grafica, carica LOAD"DEMO2-GRAFICA",8 e poi esegui RUN.
## Note importanti sulla versione 1.1

SHORT DESCRIPTION 61 keywords for your C64: graphics, sprites, SID sound, disk and REU commands. Includes demos, a sample game and an Italian manual. FULL DESCRIPTION # BASIC 10/64 PLUS ## More possibilities. The same Commodore 64. Draw with DRAW, BOX and CIRCLE. Move sprites with MOVSPR. Create sounds with SOUND and explore control structures that go beyond the original BASIC V2. **BASIC 10/64 PLUS** is a resident machine-code extension for the **Commodore 64**, created by **Carlo Pastore** and inspired by the syntax of the Commodore 65's BASIC. Version **1.1** adds **61 keywords** and loads from disk without replacing the BASIC ROM. It is not a Commodore 65 emulator or a complete port of its BASIC 10: its features are adapted to the C64's VIC-II, SID and memory. ## From code to screen Access **320×200 bitmap graphics** directly from BASIC: points, lines, rectangles, circles, ellipses, fills and text. The VIC-II's hires bitmap colour restrictions still apply: two colours per 8×8 cell, selected from the 16-colour palette. The sprite commands let you configure appearance and position, move sprites and read collision information. With **MULTI**, you can experiment with up to **24 virtual sprites** through raster multiplexing. There are still only eight hardware sprites, and the limit of eight within the same 21-scanline band still applies. Sound uses the **SID's three voices**, with control over volume, waveforms, envelopes, filtering and musical sequences. **SOUND** lets your program continue while a sound effect plays; **PLAY**, by contrast, waits for the notes to finish playing. ## A more convenient BASIC DO/LOOP, WHILE/UNTIL, EXIT, ELSE and BEGIN/BEND extend BASIC V2. TRAP and RESUME provide error handling; GETKEY and SLEEP simplify waiting and interaction. AUTO, DELETE, RENUMBER and HELP assist with writing program listings. Disk commands include DLOAD, DSAVE and DIRECTORY, along with BLOAD and BSAVE for data. The PLUS version adds features for an **optional REU**, with STASH, FETCH, SWAP, MEMORY and RAM. The **DMA** command copies or fills blocks within the C64's RAM using software and also works without a REU. Full support for 16 MB expansions is not claimed for this build: please read the documentation notes. ## Learn from the included examples The disk includes six themed demos, **MEGADEMO**, **DEMOPLUS**, **DEMOLUNA** with the LUNA bitmap, and **ALLUNAGGIO**, a sample game written in the extended BASIC. Study the listings, change the parameters and see how the commands work together. In ALLUNAGGIO, you must land the module on the platform while keeping its speed under control: **SPACE** fires the main engine, while **A/D** control lateral thrust. A joystick in port 2 is also supported. The game is an included example; the main product is the programming extension. ## Included in the download The **BASIC10-64.d64** disk image, the original **110-page Italian manual**, Italian and English quick-start guides, documentation notes and checksums. The manual contains the command reference, examples, an assembly-language appendix and a BASIC loader with DATA statements. A separate, build-ready source-code project is not included. ## Requirements and getting started You need a Commodore 64 with BASIC V2 and a compatible loading system, or a configured C64 emulator. Mount the D64 in drive 8 and enter the following two commands **separately**, pressing RETURN after each: ```basic LOAD"BASIC10-64",8 RUN ``` At the READY prompt, enter HELP to list the keywords. To start with the graphics demo, enter LOAD"DEMO2-GRAFICA",8 and then RUN. **No emulator, system ROMs or Windows executable are included.** The programs and manual contain Italian text. The English guide helps you get started; it is not a complete translation of the software. ## Important notes on version 1.1 The nominal BASIC memory available is **30,719 bytes in text mode** and **18,431 bytes in graphics mode**, before your own program and data. Enable GRAPHIC 1 before initialising variables. Compatibility with other extensions, cartridges and programs that use the same RAM or vectors must be checked. **Do not use RESTORE or RUN/STOP+RESTORE while MULTI is active:** the manual reports that this locks up the machine. Stop the program using RUN/STOP alone and disable the multiplexer with MULTI 0 before pressing RESTORE. Keep a backup copy of the disk before using commands that write, delete or format. Initial REU detection writes to some memory bytes. The four gallery images are extracted from pages 26–27 of the manual and show the examples documented there; they are not new captures of the supplied build. The package underwent static inspection, without a new, complete emulator or hardware test during preparation for publication.
